When
you compare this homage to Escher with the original,
you´ll see that M.C.Escher sacrified geometrical consistency to artistical
intuition. I did exactly the opposite by using the duck.
If
you like kitsch, then you´ll like eternity.
Of
course I´ve played DOOM. Even discounting the pure adrenaline rush of
the gameplay, the game engine alone is enough to turn me green with envy.
Imagine this game in high resolution and with antialiasing and you will get
this.
Another
artist I´m very fond of is H.R.Giger, the guy who made the designs for
the movie "Alien". Everyone knows just by looking at his pictures that this
man is sick, but just imagine a movie with the script by H.P.Lovecraft and
the design by Giger! Anyway this is what you get when you mix bump mapping
with an overdose of Giger. Only the biggest features of the
corridor are modeled all the rest is done with
bump maps. 3D-Studio handles them really nice as long as they don´t
contain too high frequencies.
